Should your store move to Shopify POS?
Shopify POS fits stores that sell physical products, want one inventory for the counter and the website, and have staff who need their own logins. It fits less well where a different kind of register is the heart of the business.
Where it fits
- Clothing, shoes, gifts, home goods, specialty food and similar product stores
- Stores that already sell online, or plan to
- Two or more locations that share stock
- Owners who want staff permissions and per-person sales tracking
Where it fits less well
- Table-service restaurants
- Grocery with weighed items at the register
- Stores locked into a processing contract with large exit fees (we check yours first)
- Businesses in categories Shopify Payments does not support
POS Lite or POS Pro
POS Lite comes with every Shopify plan and covers simple in-person selling. POS Pro is a paid add-on, charged per location, for stores that need staff roles and permissions, deeper inventory tools and retail reports. We tell you which one your store needs at each location.
POS Pro lists at $89 a month per location, or $67 a month on a 12-month term.
